SOFT COMMONS — material, relations and collective processes

How can textile practices become social laboratories? In this project, textiles are explored as a medium that enables social interaction and can generate new forms of community. Based on an experimental engagement with material, textile processes are understood as a practice of commoning — as the sharing of knowledge, gestures, and experiences. The process itself becomes a central component of the work.

Through textile interventions, collages, archives, compositions, or performative formats, temporary textile spaces emerge in public contexts. Here, textiles function as a social infrastructure: as spaces for encounter, care, and collective action. The focus lies on textile cycles, material and atmospheric qualities, as well as the intensity and intelligence of touch.

Wie können textile Praktiken zu sozialen Laboren werden? In diesem Projekt wird Textil als Medium untersucht, das soziale Interaktion ermöglicht und neue Formen von Gemeinschaft hervorbringen kann. Ausgehend von einer experimentellen Arbeit mit Material verstehen wir textile Prozesse als Praxis des Commoning — als Teilen von Wissen, Gesten und Erfahrungen. Der Prozess selbst wird dabei zum zentralen Bestandteil der Arbeit.

Durch textile Interventionen, Collagen, Archive, Kompositionen oder performative Formate entstehen temporäre textile Räume im öffentlichen Kontext. Textil fungiert hier als soziale Infrastruktur: als Ort für Begegnung, Fürsorge und kollektive Handlung. Im Fokus stehen textile Kreisläufe, materielle und atmosphärische Qualitäten sowie die Intensität und Intelligenz der Berührung.
