Der Einführungskurs Jacquardweben wird ab diesem Semester zum ersten Mal hands-on in der neuen Soft Rapid Prototyping Werkstatt stattfinden. Der Kurs startet mit einer Einführung in die CAD-Programmierung mittels Photoshop, hier erwerben die Studierenden das Know-how, um ihre eigenen Dateien zu entwickeln. An zwei digital gesteuerten TC2 Jacquard Webstühlen können die Kursteilnehmer*innen ihre erstellten Dateien weben und den Prozess des Jacquardwebens so aktiv erlernen.

Ende Januar ist eine Exkursion zum Textilforschungsinstitut Thüringen-Vogtland TITV Greiz e.V. geplant, um die Potentiale des Jacquardwebens im Kontext Industrie und Forschung hautnah zu erleben. Hier können wir unterschiedliche Dimensionen des Webprozesses anschauen und mit den Technikern über die technischen Abläufe, mögliche Anwendungsfelder und außergewöhnliche Materialien sprechen.

Der Kurs wird durchgeführt von Essi Johanna Glomb und Karina Wirth, beide ehemalige Forschungsmitarbeiterinnen an der KHB, die das mittlerweile abgeschlossene Forschungsprojekt Textile Prototyping Lab seit 2022 als Spin-off Unternehmen fortführen und unterschiedliche Textilentwicklungs- und vermittlungsprojekte mit Fokus of High-Tech Textiles und Design durchführen. Karina Wirth ist außerdem Werkstattleiterin der Soft Rapid Prototyping Werkstatt - die Textilwerkstatt, die während des Forschungsprojekts entwickelt und aufgebaut wurde.

The introductory Jacquard weaving course will be held hands-on for the first time in the new Soft Rapid Prototyping workshop starting this semester. The course will start with an introduction to CAD programming using Photoshop, here students will acquire the know-how to develop their own files. On two digitally controlled TC2 Jacquard looms, the course participants can weave their created files and thus actively learn the process of Jacquard weaving.

At the end of January, an excursion to the Textile Research Institute Thuringia-Vogtland TITV Greiz e.V. is planned to experience the potential of Jacquard weaving in the context of industry and research firsthand. Here we can look at different dimensions of the weaving process and talk to the technicians about the technical processes, possible fields of application, and unusual materials.

The course is conducted by Essi Johanna Glomb and Karina Wirth, both former research staff members at KHB, who continue the now completed research project Textile Prototyping Lab as a spin-off company since 2022 and conduct different textile development and mediation projects with a focus on high-tech textiles and design. Karina Wirth is also workshop manager of the Soft Rapid Prototyping Workshop - the textile workshop that was developed and established during the research project.
